The Ultra-Spill Deck Bladder System is designed to achieve EPA spill containment compliance with the lowest profile spill containment pallet on the market. This innovative system integrates a rolled-up 250-liter bladder into the popular Ultra-Spill Decks, allowing any spill deck (1, 2, or 4 drums) to become self-contained and meet spill containment regulations without expanding its footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Can I reuse a bladder? Spilled liquids will more than likely cause the internal surfaces of the bladder to adhere to each other. We cannot guarantee the proper deployment of a reused bladder.
  2. How do you get spillage out of the sump? We recommend using a pump (Product CHU2345 can be used) to remove any spilled contents from the sump. (Note: spillage should be pumped into an approved container
  3. How does the ramp connect to the decks? The spill deck ramp ( Product CHU1089) comes complete with two steel clips that quickly install on the end of the ramp. These clips hook onto the connecting spill deck and keep the ramp from moving or shifting during loading or unloading. NOTE: The ramp is not designed to be used with the 1-Drum spill decks or the short side of the 2-Drum spill decks.
  4. I need to add another spill deck to the one I already have. How do I do that? What do I need? Other than the spill deck, you’ll need one bulkhead fitting (Product CHU1073) and one t-strip (Product CHU1131) for every 660mm of spill deck length that is connected. For example, if you’re connecting a 4-drum spill deck to another 4-drum spill deck you would need two bulkhead fittings and two t-strips. If, on the other hand, you were connecting a 1-drum spill deck to the short end of a 2-drum spill deck, you would only need one each of the bulkhead fitting and t-strip.
  5. The spill deck that I bought previously does not have any holes to put the bulkhead fitting through. Can I drill holes myself? Yes.  All that is required is a 39mm hole saw (31mm will also work).  On each side of the Ultra-Spill Decks are “dimpled” areas that indicate where holes are to be drilled.  Center the hole saw in the area you need to be drilled and carefully cut the hole(s) for your bulkhead fittings.   File or “flame” any rough or sharp edges prior to connecting.
  6. What are sidewall plugs for? Sidewall plugs ( Product CHU2221) can be used if you are no longer connecting a spill deck and therefore have a hole that needs to be plugged.
  7. Is the deck slip-resistant? Yes, all grating surfaces on the spill decks are slip-resistant.
  8. Can the spill decks be moved with a forklift or pallet jack? The spill deck can NOT be moved with a forklift or pallet jack. The design of the spill deck sidewalls sometimes leads users to think that it is forkliftable or able to be moved with a pallet jack. But what may appear to be forklift pockets are actually supports for the grating.
  9. What does t-strip do? The t-strips lay across the point where two spill decks come together.  By “bridging the gap” this piece diverts spills to either of the decks and keeps any spillage from getting between the units.
  10. Does the Ultra-Spill Deck’s sump capacity meet regulations? (Note:  The answer to this question is based on one assumption:  That the spill decks are being used with 205 litre drums).  By themselves, the 1-drum, 2-drum, and 4-drum spill decks do not meet EPA requirements.  They must be connected to a bladder or another Ultra-Spill Deck to increase the total sump capacity to 230 litres minimum.
  11. What is the size of the grating? Ultra-Spill Deck Plus Models use a grating that is 1320mmL x 660mmW x 101mmH. All other spill decks use a grating that is 1219mmL x 609mmW x 63mmH.
  12. I need to replace my bladder. What should I order? What’s the difference between a replacement bladder and a bladder attachment? The replacement bladder (Product CHU6340) is what you would need to order.  It is just the bladder and does not include the outer housing.  The bladder attachment (Product CHU2317) includes a bladder and the outside housing.
  13. How much space is necessary for the bladder to completely unfurl? The bladder will roll out 1663mm away from the deck and will be 1676mm wide when completely unfurled.
  14. When should the bladder be replaced? The bladder(s) should be replaced for any of the following reasons: (1) It captures a spill (regardless of the size of the spill), (2) It deploys, rolls, or falls out of the bladder attachment housing. (3) It has sat unused for more than five years.
