Description

Ultra-Filter-Tex is a highly effective material for stormwater management and oil spill clean-ups. Made from a proprietary fibre blend, it absorbs oils and greases while allowing water to flow through, preventing recontamination. Unlike polypropylene, which repels water and delays oil absorption in surf environments, Ultra-Filter-Tex’s hydrophilic properties enable faster water flow and selective oil absorption.

Key Features:

  • Weight: 397 gsm
  • Flow Rate: 6,152 LPM/m²
  • Puncture Resistance: 32 kg
  • Oil Reclaimability: 85-90%
  • Material: Recycled synthetic fibers
  • Technology: Lightweight fiber mass with extensive surface area
  • Durability: Long-lasting geotextile and filter media
  • Efficiency: Absorbs up to 13 times its weight in hydrocarbons
  • Versatility: Suitable for oil/water separators, stormwater and wastewater filtration, and water polishing
  • Environmental Impact: Minimal residue or ash during incineration, no harmful leaching

Common Applications:

  • Oil Blankets: 1.5m x 3m blankets that can hold up to 31.5 liters of oil, ideal for shorelines and surf areas.
  • Spill Fence: Functions like a silt fence, using stakes and wire backing to protect marshes, wetlands, and shorelines by filtering oil while allowing water flow.
  • Oil Booms: 1.8m long with pre-installed hardware, including skirted models with an 863 mm skirt for capturing sub-surface oil.
  • Stormwater Management: Integrated into various stormwater management products.
  • Track Matting: Absorbs oils and fuels around railroad tracks during maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why would I opt for Ultra-Filter-Tex instead of the more commonly used polypropylene absorbents? It outperforms traditional absorbents by swiftly removing oil and hydrocarbons. Unlike polypropylene, it allows unhindered water flow, preventing blinding over time.

2. Isn’t polypropylene less expensive than Ultra-Filter-Tex, Is it truly the case?  When you directly compare the cost per metre indeed, Ultra-Filter-Tex appears more economical. However, upon closer examination, considering its significantly greater absorption capacity, you’ll recognize that Ultra-Filter-Tex not only outperforms other options but also proves more cost-effective.

3. Does Ultra-Filter-Tex effectively absorb synthetic oils? Ultra-Filter-Tex material is specifically engineered for absorbing hydrocarbons and does not absorb synthetic substances.

4. Can absorbed oil be extracted from Ultra-Filter-Tex? Indeed, around 85-90% of the oils absorbed by Ultra-Filter-Tex can be reclaimed, allowing for the reuse of the material. This process typically involves the use of a press or centrifuge.

5. Is Ultra-Filter-Tex environmentally friendly? Ultra-Filter-Tex is environmentally friendly and user-safe. It does not release harmful substances into the environment, and when incinerated, it produces minimal residue or ash.

6. What is the flow rate of Ultra-Filter-Tex? The flow rate for Ultra-Filter-Tex is approximately 6152 l/m2/min.
